Following is Donald Light's response to today's qotd message,

This list conveys as well as anything why the US ranks lowest among 19
affluent countries in avoidable hospitalizations and avoidable deaths.
We have great training and great doctors & nurses, but they are the
victims of legal and structural barriers and provisions aimed to corrupt
the mission of health care from maximizing the well-being of patients
and getting sick patients better, to maximizing revenues through
thousands of niche markets.
